Facts About Voting!
THE DEADLINE TO REGISTER TO VOTE IS 5:00 PM, OCTOBER 6, 2008. NEW VOTER REGISTRATION FORMS MUST BE TURNED INTO THE BROWARD COUNTY SUPERVISOR OF ELECTION OFFICE. NEW VOTERS MUST PROVIDE A VALID DRIVERS LICENSE OR FLORIDA ID CARD NUMBER, OR THE LAST FOUR DIGITS OF THEIR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION. IF INFORMATION DOES NOT MATCH, THE REGISRATION FORM WILL BE CONSIDERED INCOMPLETE. THREE WAYS TO VOTE:
o EARLY VOTING
o ABSENTEE BALLOT VOTING (VOTE BY MAIL)
o ELECTION DAY
VOTERS MUST VOTE AT THEIR DESIGNATED POLLING PLACE ON ELECTION DAY. VISIT OUR WEBSITE AT www.browardsoe.org TO FIND PRECINCT LOCATION. ALSO ON THE BACK OF VOTER INFORMATION CARD.
A VOTER MUST PRESENT A VALID PHOTO INDENTIFICATION WITH SIGNATURE IN ORDER TO VOTE. THE VOTER INFORMATION CARD MAY NOT BE USED FOR IDENTIFICATION PURPOSES.
VOTERS WILL BE VOTING ON A PAPER BALLOT VOTING SYSTEM USING THE DS200 OPTICAL SCAN MACHINE.
ONLY THE VOTER IS ALLOWED TO TOUCH THEIR BALLOT.
VOTERS WILL NOT RECEIVE A PAPER RECEIPT. A VOTERS BALLOT IS THE PAPER TRAIL.
ON ELECTION DAY, VOTERS MAY DROP OFF THEIR ABSENTEE BALLOTS AT THE MAIN OFFICE OF THE SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS. BALLOTS MAY NOT BE DROPPED OFF AT THE POLLING PLACE. BALLOTS MUST BE RECEIVED BY 7PM ON ELECTION NIGHT. POST MARKS DO NOT COUNT.
VOTERS WHO ARE WEARING OR DEPLOYING CAMPAIGN PARAPHERNELIA WILL NOT BE BARRED FROM ENTERING THE POLLING PLACE IF THEY ARE THERE TO VOTE. THESE VOTERS MAY NOT CAMPAIGN, LINGER, OR PROMOTE FOR CANDIDATES OR ISSUES IN THE POLLING PLACE.
