It has been said that the details of Buster's life have been shadowed in mystery. One tale follows a legend that he was conceived in a VIP room at Studio 54. Others cast aside indications of a traditional birth owing his existence to a genetic growth experiment involving a dirty shot glass, glow sticks and an ungodly cotton-poly blend. Of course the people that actually believe this are obviously idiots.

Justin Altshuler a.k.a. Buster was raised on the mediocre streets of a Boston suburb. An energetic teen, Buster's nickname stems from his obsession with Jet Skiing. Bust'n Justin, as he was dubbed by his sponsors while racing on the national circuit, ranked among the country's top experts in competitive watercraft during the early 90's. After being forced out of the sport by a back injury, he went on to study radio at Emerson College where he found his true love, nightclubbing at the age of 19, a lifestyle satiating his intense ADD. Always the exhibitionist, Buster created and taught his own style of freestyle dance, an eclectic mix of 80's Popping and Raver's Liquid. He achieved local fame with his outrageous performances in various nightlife venues across New England. Making use of his overly outgoing personality, Buster promoted events for the scene throughout Boston. He dabbled in the nefarious world of illegal "after hours" parties in and around Bean town, which was his symbolic bird to Boston's 2:00 a.m. shut down laws.

A full-fledged, self-professed club rat, Buster was hired as the club columnist for The Improper Bostonian Magazine. After meeting the program director at a dinner party he soon became the voice of Boston's progressive underground by convincing the PD to let him create and host a new mix show on CBS/Infinity's WBCN -104.1FM. "Cybersounds" introduced Boston to cutting edge musical guests such as BT, The Crystal Method, Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox, Victor Calderone, The Chemical Brothers, Moby and Keoki, to name a few.

After falling in love with Miami during a trip to the infamous Winter Music Conference and having a karmic meeting with Buzzy Sklar, a local NY transplant that had the idea for a new pocket sized "scene" publication; Buster knew he found his niche. He left the airwaves and brownstones of Bean town for the real waves and deco style of South Beach. He accepted a position that allowed him to express his twisted sense of humor at the fledgling publication, Ego Trip Magazine. In his monthly columns and editorials, Buster seizes the high energy and ridiculousness of nightlife along with the attitudes and egos that make up the South Beach scene. Buster's penchant for the weird and exotic have helped to drive his observations of the characters he encounters nightly thus creating his lighthearted features on everything from the ego, (you feel like #1, but you're really #2) to being a frugal VIP, (how to win fake friends and influence shallow people - without really trying).

Buster has been awarded dozens of completely meaningless awards throughout his nefarious career that, coupled with a good sandwich, would do nothing more than keep him from being hungry for while. These include....

  • "BOSTON'S BEST AFTER HOURS PROMOTER" – IMPORPER BOSTONIAN MAGAZINE – 1998
  • "BOSTON'S #8 PERSON NO PARTY CAN DO WITHOUT" STUFF AT NIGHT MAGAZINE - 1999
  • "BOSTON'S 50 MOST STYLISH PEOPLE" – BOSTON MAGAZINE 1999
  • "SOUTH BEACH'S TOP 5 BEST DRESSED MEN" – MIAMI SUN POST 2004
  • "MIAMI'S MOST ALLURING PEOPLE" – EGO MIAMI MAGAZINE 2003
  • "VISIONARY" – LINCOLN ROAD MAGAZINE 2004
  • "30 UNDER 30" STREET MIAMI MAGAZINE 2004

In 2002, Buster got together with another South beach nightlife personality, DAVID MARDINI and created A3 (Nightlife TV) a nightly broadcast featuring dance music videos, DJ's and the progressive lifestyle of club culture. Teaming up with founder/owner of DANCESTAR USA: THE AMERICAN DANCE MUSIC Andy Ruffell in 2003, A3 has developed a new style of television never seen before in the US. A TV channel designed to be watched in the late night hours. A music driven high energy broadcast specifically designed for a tech savvy 18-34 demographic. Log onto A3TV.tv for more.
